ISAASC
Standards Working Group

The main objective of Standards Working Group is to design a universal framework to help accrediting bodies to develop, in collaboration with medical schools and other stakeholders, their own list of standards related to Social Accountability, adapted to their context.

Our project:

Global survey
Accreditation of medical schools for better people’s  health

The ISAASC initiative is consistent with a general awareness that societies  worldwide are under important mutations due to political, economic, socio cultural and environmental factors and that health systems need support from  key stakeholders, including academic institutions in the health sector, to be able  to deliver efficient, equitable and sustainable health services to everyone.

One of the strategies to create such a momentum is to consult accrediting bodies  as well as concerned national, regional and international organizations worldwide  on the opportunity to examine how current standards and processes can/should  be adjusted to ensure medical schools’ missions and programs are optimally  geared towards making the greatest impact on people’s health.

Aim of the Global survey

The purpose of this survey is to gain insight into accreditation standards and to estimate the extent to which accrediting bodies of medical schools worldwide intend to review their standards to ensure a better impact of medical schools on people’s health.

Objectives

- To communicate with the accreditation bodies worldwide.
- To engage in a sequence of consultations to explore their views and recommendations on the opportunity to revisit accreditation standards and processes in the light of health system challenges.
- To analyze the views and recommendations received from the different accreditation agencies to synthesize a coherent perspective.
- To publish and disseminate the conclusion of the consultations
