Roghayeh Gandomkar, MD, PhD, is the chair of the Department of Medical Education and an Associate Professor at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She is also a member of the Accreditation Committee for Undergraduate Medical Education in Iran. Dr. Gandomkar has been involved in numerous accreditation activities including developing and implementing standards and structures for the Iranian accreditation agency for Undergraduate Medical Education (the SCUME) and applying for its recognition. She is interested in conducting research on accreditation practices and applying program evaluation models in Health Professions Education. She is a co-coordinator of the ISAASC Research Group. Considering my background as a Medical Doctor, social accountability of Medical Schools has always been my concern. Her interests in social accountability are informed from her background as a medical doctor.
