Naomi Palmer is a Student Research Assistant with the Dr. Gilles Arcand Centre for Health Equity, where she is working with Dr. LeBlanc and his team on the Icelandic Prevention Model / Planet Youth (YSUPP), a community-based initiative focused on promoting youth well-being and preventing substance use across Northern Ontario.

Naomi is currently a first-year medical student at NOSM University on the Thunder Bay campus. She completed her Bachelor of Physical Education with a specialization in Kinesiology at Laurentian University, where she was a member of the varsity track and field team. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she gained experience in community-based research, coaching, and health promotion, with research interests in health equity, youth engagement, physical activity, and community wellness. She is passionate about working alongside communities to promote equitable health outcomes and support meaningful, evidence-informed change.

Originally from Sudbury, Naomi enjoys staying active through fitness and volleyball, coaching youth, reading, and spending time outdoors.
