Senior leader and Critical Care Flight Paramedic

Michael Longeway is a senior leader and Critical Care Flight Paramedic, with management experience in both land and air ambulance environments. Prior to working for Ornge as the Director of Clinical Affairs, Michael was the Deputy Chief of Professional Standards for Middlesex-London Paramedic Service. In both roles, Michael is responsible for matters of paramedic care, overseeing clinical quality improvement, paramedic education (critical care training and continuous medical education). Michael has worked clinically in various environments across the EMS sector, in the 12 years of his front-line experience, having worked as a Primary Care Paramedic in an sub-urban setting, and as an Advanced/Critical Care Flight Paramedic on both fixed-wing and rotor-wing aircrafts in remote northern Ontario communities, as well as downtown Toronto.

Michael hold a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario, as well as diplomas in Primary, Advanced, and Critical Care Paramedicine. His academic interests and research has been focussed on governance models and structures in ambulance service delivery in the Canadian context. Outside of work, Michael is a proud father of two daughters, and can be found at the side of a soccer pitch or in the stands of a gymnastics competition.
