Cassandra Whymark is a Master of Medical Studies student and staff member at NOSM University whose community-based research examines health equity, food sovereignty, and relational approaches to care in Northern Ontario. Drawing on a background in geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), her work uses participatory mapping and network-based approaches to better understand the social and spatial relationships that support community health systems.
Her current research focuses on the Nourishing Health Education Coalition, exploring how collaborative food and health networks strengthen community wellbeing, knowledge exchange, and local capacity. Her broader interests include community-engaged research, systems thinking, and the role of relationships in shaping equitable health futures.
In addition to her academic work, Cassandra has contributed to leadership and coordination initiatives across food systems, community organizations, and health partnerships throughout Northern Ontario.
